Colors of Other Lands

It began with one postcard, when Toprak Uzunhan was forty days old. Fifteen years later it is still going.

The collection gathers postcards from all over the world. On the back of each one, someone wrote down what it was like to be there: an anecdote, a greeting, sometimes just the weather. Some of them are not really postcards at all — one is a photograph someone took, one a drawing, one the lid of a pastry box.

Send one yourself

If you would like to send a card from where you are, there are three things to do.

  1. 1

    Pick a postcard

Buy a nice one from where you are. If you cannot find one, never mind — a photograph you took, a drawing you made, even a book cover will do.

  2. 2

    Write on the back

Write an anecdote about the place, something you experienced, a greeting, or anything else on your mind.

  3. 3

    Put it in the post

Add a stamp and send it. Or use a courier, or hand it over in person.
